My Story

Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity. They campaign for change, fund research towards a cure, and support people living with dementia and the families beside them every day.

Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer. Someone develops it every three minutes, and there is still no cure. For my family, it is deeply personal. Both of my grandmothers lived with Alzheimer’s, but the illness affected them in such different ways. Seeing how differently the same disease can shape a person showed me just how complex and devastating dementia really is.

Facing dementia can feel frightening and overwhelming, but it is one of the greatest health and social care challenges of our time, and one we cannot ignore.

That is why the work of Alzheimer’s Society matters so much. Through fundraising, research, campaigning, and support services, they are helping families navigate the reality of dementia today while working towards a better future tomorrow.

Whether you have been personally affected by dementia, support someone who has, or simply want to help create change, every voice and every contribution matters. Together, we can build greater understanding, better support, and hope for a future where no family has to experience the heartbreak of dementia.
